What's Up

Lots has happened since I last posted...in JULY! How did the time get by? I don't know, but it just flew. It's almost the end of October! Since July we've moved Nathan, Chelsea and Avery to Jackson, MS; we attended Rob's 30th high school reunion; my parents had a 50th wedding celebration; (Teri and I headed it up and it turned out very well even in spite of us!) Nathan has started law school; Will started 9th grade; Chelsea started working at a precious store called The Everyday Gardener; and Avery turned a year old! This fall has been extremely busy every single day. There have been very few days that weren't already full of things to do before they even started. It can be exhausting.

Will is enjoying (and doing a great job in) marching band. We have our last regular season football game tonight as a matter of fact. Rob and I have learned how to work in the football concession stand! While it IS work, it is kind of fun. That takes a lot for me to say, because I didn't think I'd like concession stand work AT ALL! I never liked it at the little league baseball fields. In fact, when they came up with the plan that you could pay to have someone else work for you, I was on that fast! Well, tonight we will be in the concession stand again! Will is also in the youth praise band at church and continues to enjoy and do well. He is also playing AYSO soccer and school soccer! Between practices for 2 bands and 2 soccer teams, band performances and soccer games...oh wait...he is also in school and has homework, tests and projects with that on a regular basis! By the way, would anyone like to buy a gallon of Brunswick stew (to support youth group mission trip) or a Boston Butt (for the school soccer team)? Just let us know!!!

Nathan and Chelsea had a great birthday party for Avery at their house on October 10. She was such a sweetie. Even though she was running a fever off and on, she never was anything but sweet and loving. Chelsea's parents, Rob's parents, my dad and Rob, Will and I were all there. Mother had a convention with the Republican Ladies in Birmingham and wasn't able to make the party. Anyway, Chelsea had the house beautiful and made many delicious treats for everybody!

Four generations. Nathan, Avery, Grimp (Don Greene), and KayK (Karen)

Avery wasn't too sure about Elmo at first!

Well, that catches you up for now. I'm still working to determine what to regularly blog about! Right now, it is just whatever happens to come to my mind while I'm typing!

I'm Here!

Despite evidence to the contrary, I'm visiting my blog lately. Just not posting. I guess I'm using it as a portal to reach other blogs. One of my friend's daughters is travelling Europe, staying in hostels. I'm really enjoying viewing the world through this beautiful 20 year old's eyes! I will try to add it to my list of blogs on my page. You just have to read Laura's journal. She is a gifted, descriptive, entertaining and insightful writer.

Guess I've got sidetracked with FaceBook. It is so quick and you get lots more responses and interactions over there. The purpose of the blog should be to record life as it happens. It should be like writing in a notebook...the daily mundane things, the lists of to dos and what to gets, and plans. The occasional excitement might even pop up too!

I've got tomatoes!!! They are turning red v e r y s l o w l y.

I've been doing The 30 Day Shred exercise video. Just finished my 11th day, and can actually see results. Think I'm getting leaner (burning fat), but would be more successful if I could get the Cheetos cheese puffs to leave me alone! They belong to Will for crying out loud!

We are moving Nathan, Chelsea and Avery to Jackson, Ms. tomorrow. I hate to see them go, but know it is time for them to strike out on their own. Nathan's law school classes start next month. Chelsea is job hunting over there, so if you have any connections in Jackson, let me know. She will be a fantastic employee for someone, and she especially hopes to work in her major of public relations! Little Miss Avery will get used to just having Mommy and Daddy around. Soon she will get to know little friends at daycare too. I pray wisdom, safety, friends, good health, employment, success at studies over them. I just pray God will keep them in the palm of his hand, that they will learn to fully rely on His timing and provision for them.

Well, on to other projects!

BTW I got Laura and Zach's blog on my list. Click on Eurotrip 2009 to follow them!

Delinquent Blogger

Yes, I've become a delinquent blogger! Life is very busy these days, and I've discovered that FaceBook is easy to use and a quick way to catch up with people. I am trying to decide what I'd like my blog to be...bear with me as I ramble. I read lots of blogs, some with themes and others that just record their owners' thoughts about anything. I don't know if I want this to work like a journal to record events and ordinary days or if this blog needs a purpose such as encouragement, devotional, decorating (or my dreams of it), etc.

Just wanted to put up a new post though. It has been since January! Yikes. I will update more later. Right now I've got a new rake to break in in my backyard.

Wedding Weekend

Amazing week-end for Chelsea and Nathan's wedding.

The rehearsal and wedding and reception was great. The wedding itself was beautiful as was Chelsea, the bride. Nathan and Chelsea are a lovely couple! We are so happy to have Chelsea as part of our family! I do have to add that Nathan made a handsome groom, too!

Busy Last Quarter 2008

Yes, it's been over a month since I wrote anything new. I can get carried away with the idea that I must post something awesome and/or amazing to write at all! The title of this post came from an e-mail a friend sent me. She mentioned that our family has had a busy last quarter of the year, and that is the truth!

On December 19, Nathan graduated from Auburn University. We are so proud of him. The day was great. We got to spend time before and after with him, Chelsea and Avery. Rob got quite a few good pictures too.

Christmas came on us fast. We got the tree up and decorated and even managed to buy presents. This year for the first time, I did not send out Christmas cards. We had a good Christmas with my parents and sister coming up to spend it with us. We did miss Nathan--it was the first Christmas he hasn't been with us! We had exchanged presents with Nathan, Chelsea and Avery the weekend before Christmas while they were visiting.

Staying up 'til midnight was a challenge for us this year. We were tired! Will had been on a ski trip with our church youth group, and he was tired too! We made it to midnight...barely. New Year's day was nice and relaxing though. I even got to watch lots of the Rose Parade (I love a parade).
